This video is a compilation of photos from my 6 week- 210 hour solar class in Kerman. Most all my students come from agricultural labor backgrounds and they live in Kerman, San Joaquin, Mendota, and Huron.

If a picture tells a thousand words, 160 pictures could be a book.

All of the students are well prepared for entry level positions as solar installers as we have covered mounting and roof penetrations, wiring, NEC Article 690, Series and parallel circuits, and other things. We’ve spent a great deal of time on OSHA safety and specifics for PV systems including roof top safety.

The latter part of the video shows a live install where my students volunteered with Grid Alternatives to get up on the roof for hands on training. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Grid Alternatives, Fresno, for making it possible.

Rich, what a great project! This valley should be the Renewable Energy Capital of the United States. Your class just took us one step further towards that dream. Way to go!
