I was recently on the EWG.org website and looked up the toxins that are in my tap water. I am in Clovis and one of the top toxins which were above the recommended health level and above the legal limit were DBCP and another above the recommended health level was arsenic. When I called and spoke with a women who works Clovis water supply she stated that the DBCP pesticide is filtered but the arsenic is not. When I looked up filters that would eliminate arsenic the only ones that do this are the reverse osmosis type. Besides the money my big concern with reverse osmosis is the waste of water. I have heard that the reverse osmosis may waste up to 20 gallons for each gallon of water we consume. The woman at the water quality office said that originally the recommended level of arsenic was 50ppb. Then the state lowered it to 10ppb and so this is considered a very small amount. That being said I am not thrilled with the idea of having ANY arsenic in my water especially when it shows up in testing above the 10ppb level. I am wondering if anyone on GreenFresno has advice or experience on this concern. Thank you.
