Volunteers needed for Barn Owl Nest Box construction! Calling all handy persons!

Fresno Audubon is in dire need of volunteers that are willing to construct Barn Owl nest boxes for placement on local farms and ranches as well as donations of suitable lumber and funds. We have over 100 orders for boxes from area farmers and would like to fill them quickly.

Boxes are easy to construct. No specialized skills or tools beyond a saw, hammer, and nails are required. Plans can be found at http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/how/woodworking/how-build-barn-ow.... We will provide materials if requested.

Fresno Audubon partners with local farmers for nest box construction and installation because it enhances bird nesting habitat, provides farmers with a cost-effective and environmentally sound means of rodent control, and builds relationships between conservationists and the agricultural community.

Please contact me at bhill@fresnoaudubon.org to sign up or for additional information.

I have posted this on FaceBook previously, and I've gotten some interest in putting together an "event". If you'd like to help to put on an event to build nest boxes for the owls. Please let me know, as Brandon Hill at the Audubon Society has told me he is too busy to put one together. Thanks!
