Hello Green Fresnans,
I have been honored with the job of organizing the Fresno Earth Day Renewable Energy Transportation display for this year's Earth Day 2011 Celebration in Fresno. Are you interested in showing off your hydrogen, electric, ethanol, vegetable oil, biodiesel, hybrid, plug-in-hybrid, or other such vehicle this year? In the past we have had all of the above, with the exception of the hydrogen power. If this year's Earth Day Celebration is anything like last year (and it should be better), this event will be well attended, hands on, and fun for kids as well as adults.
My particular expertise is in making and using biodiesel. I will have biodiesel production seminars and equipment and automobile displays. I also have committments from Green Fresno founding member, Tom Cotter, who has an order in for a new all-electric Nissan Leaf. Dealers are also welcome to display their renewable energy machines. Although my focus is on larger vehicles, we also have plans for displays on human powered machines and bicycles and such. I can put you in touch with the right people so you can show your stuff and inform the public.
The date of the show is April 30, 2011. This is a great way to get involved and meet the good people of Green Fresno! You can contact me by responding to this blog, or email me at moefamily1@sbcglobal.net, or call/text 559-213-8946. God Bless and I look forward to meeting you all!

Comment by Lisa Christensen on January 8, 2011 at 1:43pm We just bought a 1980 mercedes that has been converted to run on vegie oil. We would love to be a part of your parade. Also, we have not been able to find restaurants that are willing to let us take their oil. Do you sell your biodeisel? Is there a group in Fresno that are commited to this alternative? Thank you for your efforts!

The used oil market has become a more mature market over the last 5 years. 5 years ago the local rendering plant was charging local restaurants $40/month to pick up their waste oil. Now that more people and companies have realized the value of waste vegetable oil (WVO), clean WVO is worth 10-25 cents per gallon. I think I have some leads for you in that regard. Yes, I make biodiesel. Selling it is a legal problem...but I can show you how to make it.
I have been trying to set up a Biodiesel Cooperative for the last few years. The idea is to have a larger group of people making larger quantities of biodiesel...better economics on time and money due to quantities of scale, or buy large quantities of industrially made biodiesel for less money and distribute it to coop members. I own a biodiesel-certified retail pump, and have the WVO-to-Biodiesel processing equipment. If any of this interests you, let me know.
Hans Huber's 'German Autowerks' in Clovis is a great place to get quality work done on your Mercedes for a fair price. Phone is 299-1312. I myself have owned a 1991 Mercedes 300D, and currently own a 2005 Mercedes E320 CDI and a 2005 VW Beetle TDI. Love 'em
You can contact me on this blog or cell 213-8946. Cheers! Pete Moe
Comment by Lisa Christensen on January 9, 2011 at 4:03pm Yes! We are in! Do you need pics of the car? It is in mint condition. Also we are very interested in leads to get clean WVO. We would like to eventually make our own too. We will call you and we really appreciate your knowledge and time. We are trying to make this a learning process for the whole family (3 kids, 7, 9, and 10) but don't have a lot of connections.
