Which water filter to choose?

I was recently on the EWG.org website and looked up the toxins that are in my tap water. I am in Clovis and one of the top toxins which were above the recommended health level and above the legal limit were DBCP and another above the recommended health level was arsenic. When I called and spoke with a women who works Clovis water supply she stated that the DBCP pesticide is filtered but the arsenic is not. When I looked up filters that would eliminate arsenic the only ones that do this are the…See More

Thanks Fallon~ I am very interested in a workshop. I have an interest in vermiculture mostly because our yard is REALLY small. We are vegetarian and I hate just throwing all those scraps away. My concern is the temperature in Fresno. Even if we kept…

It depends on where you live and what your investment is for community gardens. Tom with Metro Ministries is putting together a community garden "Tool Kit" (from googling community garden tool kit) and I've been working on a project that I'm hoping I can get some computer help on either through the city or someone who is computer and community garden inclined to map all of the city's empty lots and houses of worship on Google. I've got a letter into the Mayor right now hoping to get support as Fresno is now wanting Google to make them their beta test ground for the high speed internet, that we should be coming up with projects that use Google features and not just ask like I'm sure everyone else is for Google to choose them. Think... WIN/WIN

Here's what I see is needed for there to be a large scale community gardens roll out:

1. Tom to finish the Tool Kit and get feed back from the community garden alliance members.
2. Me to finish getting all the empty lots and houses of worship mapped on google.
3. Someone to get some insurance company, like the Farm Bureau, to work with the city to deal with a blanket liability for community gardens.
4. Someone to contact empty lot owners and get their status on allowing a community garden on their lot.
5. Someone to develop a presentation on community gardens and for the best option for web presence to be established and fully explored.
6. Someone to contact community groups and support groups, including developmentally and physically challenged adults and children to gather information on what their members and clients need.
7. Hold a community gardens interest meeting and collect names and numbers.
8. Have a community gardens orientation meeting for the first groups that respond and give presentation with information package or "tool kit".
9. Have a regularly scheduled "debriefing" meeting with initial groups, make changes to presentation and information as is best suited for Fresno.
10. Regular Orientation meetings.
