Local Paper Currency

I came across a superb idea in my friend's Yes magazine. There was an article concerningabout local currencies across the country. Various communities issue their own money such as Berk Shares,Ithaca Hours, Berkeley Bread and Detroit Cheers. Locally there is North Fork Shares which was startedabout 2 months ago to help the depressed economy there. The town took a hit when the sawmill closedin 1994. The major advantage to local money is that money stays in the local economy and is used asbarter.…See More

Free Electronic Recycling Event

Don't throw out your old cell phones, TV's or computers out in the trash. It is illegal in California

and is bad for the environment with all the toxic chemicals that can pollute the groundwater. The Green

Hope Veterans will be having a free electronic recycling event at the Neighborhood Thrift Store from 9 am

to 3 pm on Sat May 8th. The store is located in the Tower District near Palm & Olive.

This event will be held on Saturday Nov. 14 from 9am
to 5 pm at the downtown Fresno Holiday Inn. It will feature
a wide range of speakers. It is sponsored by the Green Hope
Veterans & PG&E. All are welcomed including veterans ,students

Thanks for the friendship, my dad and 3 brothers and 3 sisters in law and 5 nieces live in Fresno. My dad likes to listen to KPFA, all day, and I mean all day and he is tending his own garden from seed, composting and ordered some honey bees to pollinate the flowers of his veggies!

I was asking for more information in order to make a decision. I haven't decided yet. Now that I know the length of time and the audio/visual equipment I will need to give it some serious thought. I am in Toastmasters, so if you are looking for speakers, I may be able to get some from my club for you.
