I am a cyclist and computer programmer who lives in Clovis and commutes by bicycle to a job in downtown Fresno. We are at a very exciting time here in Fresno. The City of Fresno is developing a Bicycle Master Plan, and some managers have drunk the Koolaid in a big way, resulting in some interesting top-down development of bicycle-friendly public infrastructure in the coming years.
I am a member of the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition, and we are working from the bottom up, a grass-roots organization that is reaching out to partner with fellow activists in our community and reaching up to work with the City of Fresno.
I am starting to realize that we all depend on each other, and that none of us can realize our dreams for a green and sustainable Fresno on our own. I want to engage with this community so that we can work together to achieve our goals.
Follow the bicycle coalition on Twitter @FresCoBicycle. Join us on our next fun ride. Attend a meeting. Read our blog news.fresnobike.org.
