Brad Gillett said… Wow! Thanks . . .cool stuff. I figured there had to be some fellow solar cookers out there somewhere. Funny, when we bought our house 7 years ago it came w/ a DISH satellite that we never used. Wife and I kind of had a contest to see who could find the best use for it. Every so often we'd talk about the stupid dish and when were we going to remove it. We thought maybe a bird bath at one point then it went to converting it to a ground type fire pit where you stack the wood up on it & roast marshmellows w/ kids in the nice evenings . . .then sort of while getting to haul off another bbq & the thought of having to buy another one . . .the DISH-cooker idea came into play. So w/ the kids help we got it together after a few nights of planning on graph paper # working out the math. To date, I've made many batches of rice, beans, veggies, oats & fresh chicken eggs . . .walk down to the coop, get a 15-minute fresh egg, walk back over and solar cook it. Sadly, I haven't used it much lately, but after thinking about it again and seeing this group, and spring just around the corner . . .I'm itchin for some solar food!
