Hello all Fresno green folks!

I am a student at Fresno Pacific University (a Christian Anabaptist school in southeast) and have to say this group makes me very, very excited!

This fall a small group of us are working on coordinating what we call 'Building a Culture of Peace Week' in early October - a few days to intentionally reflect on what it means to link our belief and our praxis, in issues that sometimes need a good bit of peacebuilding. This year our theme is 'Making Peace with the Planet.'

We have developed (and are still developing!) a few events this week that help us process together what it means to take a critical look at how we treat our globe, in light of how we love our faith. So far we're planning on a bike/carpool/bus/walk to school initiative, a few short films to dialogue about, a time of coffeeshop jazz and green art, and a project with the River Parkway Trust, among other things.

We are still working on a couple slots that we would LOVE your help with... Friday October 9 from 10-11 am we have an opening in our College Hour, where the student body is invited to hear guest speakers, attend a workshop, etc.

Would anybody from this group (especially the interfaith green team) be interested in speaking or coordinating this hour? Different perspectives are welcome and encouraged; we would love a multiple-presenter hour!

Please let me know if you are interested in this hour of challenging some undergrads, or in other areas of the week. We would love to have you join us!
Peace,
Jessica Mast

Hi Jessica,
This sounds like a great program! I have forwarded your letter to the members of the Green Sanctuary Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Church, to which I belong. Hopefully one or more of the retirees on the committee might be interested and available to participate, if you still need someone.
If you need another filler, the film "Renewal" is an excellent vehicle for promoting discussion about faith-based stewardship of the Earth. I should have two copies of it by October, if you'd like to borrow one. (I'm thinking you may have recently show the film, yourself....is that right?).

Hi Connie!
That would be great, thanks for your help!
We did think about showing Renewal, but decided on a few other films for our audience... It was actually my parents (Barry and Shelley) who showed the film a few weeks ago. I still have yet to see it, but I hear great things!

Thanks again for your encouragement and help - and you are more than welcome to come to this hour, or any of the other events. Hope to see you in person sometime!

Peace,
Jessica
