So, here's the thing. I live in a small duplex (~800sqft) that gets tons of sun from sun-up to about 4 in the afternoon. I've been contemplating solar for some time after reading "The Renewable Energy Handbook", but my question is this..... Can I implement solar in some small way myself without having to shell out 1k to one of the contractors that installs? Does anyone know of 'kits' or do-it-yourself resources for this? I'd appreciate any direction.....

Cheers,
Kat

Not solar electric. Maybe you could work on a diy solar thermal project with something black in a window that heats up in the sun and then radiates into the room. Is this more along the lines of what you were thinking about?
