The River Parkway Trust will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19.
We are nearing the end of summer and there is a large amount of trash to be collected from Parkway properties along the San Joaquin River. The Trust is in need of volunteers to collect trash at Wildwood Native Park and Spano River Ranch. If we are able to sign up many volunteers, we will add other properties to the cleanup list.
Volunteers will meet at the Coke Hallowell Center for River Studies, 11605 Old Friant Road, on the 19th at 9:00am. We will carpool to the worksites in groups.
In 2008, more than 70,000 volunteers worked together to collect more than 1,600,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from our beaches, lakes, and waterways in California. We hope you will take part in this year's effort to clean up the San Joaquin River. If you are interested in participating please contact Sarah Cairns at 559-248-8480 ext. 107 or scairns@riverparkway.org.
