Earth Day Repurposed Art Exhibit
Have you ever seen art out of what other people would consider trash? Now is your chance to do just that and view this showcase of that art! To help bring awareness of recycling materials and Earth Day, a special Earth Day Repurposed Art Exhibit is being held during the month of April.
All art must be created through the use of or with the media of recycled materials.
Think about it…a painting on an old barn roof tile, an abstract created with plastic bottle caps, a mosaic created from broken colored glass…the possibilities are endless! Items such as magazines, floppy disks, Styrofoam, old toys, cardboard, games, cameras, those half full cans of house paint everyone has in their garage, and other discarded, found, or unwanted materials, with a little imagination, can become beautiful works of art. Let keep it out of our landfills and turn it into art!
The art will be on display for the month of April at the HandsOn Central California building located at 732 Van Ness Ave., in Fresno. An artist reception will be held during first Thursday ArtHop on April 1st from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
The Kings River Arts Council is honored to have been asked or organize this exhibit. This is a collaborative effort with Fresno Coalition of Art, Science, and History and the Fresno Arts Council. This art exhibit is just one of many events scheduled during the month of April by GreenFresno to bring awareness to being green and to celebrate Earth Day.
Submissions can be dropped off at 1281 E Alluvial Ave., Suite 101 in Fresno, California, to Melanie Fountain or to Shinn Photography Studio at 1015 G Street, in Reedley, California. If shipping art, please sent to Reedley address and include return postage.
It is our goal to have many, many artworks on display and to use this art exhibit to further the education of the general public in recycling and the importance of art in our communities.
